Green staining around taps and facilities is a symptom of copper erosion due to acidid nature of private water supplies. This media can be used to replenish re-usable 10 inch and 20 inch filter cartridges.
The media slowly dissolves and increases the PH level of water and acts as a corrosion inhibitor. Perfectly safe, this material is designed for Potable Water applications
pHlocrite™ is a synthetic high magnesia, semi calcined dolomitic limestone filter medium for the removal of Carbon Dioxide, Iron and manganese from water. It also provides automatic pH control and adjustment of the Langelier Saturation Index, establishing well balanced water through simple filtration. The advantage of synthetic dolomite over the natural product is that the Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Oxide ratio can be varied to suit particular applications resulting in optimum performance through positive and precise pH adjustment.
CORROSION CONTROL pHlocrite™ is excellent for the anti-corrosion treatment of nearly every aggressive water characterised by low calcium hardness, low alkalinity and/or low pH resulting in a negative saturation Index. Self-regulating, pHlocrite™ dolomitic filter medium acts both chemically and physically raising the pH, hardness (Calcium & Magnesium) and alkalinity, and diminishing acidity (excessive Carbon Dioxide) until the point of saturation is established (SI=0). The treated water deposits a highly protective, complex and dense 'rust lime' film which protects ferrous pipes and tanks against corrosion and cuts contamination by lead, Zinc and Copper. Also, due to the irregular shape of the porous grains, pHlocrite™ provides maximum surface area per unit volume which improves the removal of turbid matter
HEAVY METAL REMOVAL is achieved due to the alkaline milieu on the surface of the pHlocrite™. Metallic ions (if present) are trapped in the form of their insoluble hydroxides including Lead, Cadmium, Copper and Zinc.
pHlocrite™ Grade'B' has a ratio of 50% Magnesium to 50% Calcium and is designed to overcome the problems associated with natural dolomites in hard water areas but is more economical to use than Grade 'A' despite its higher price because of superior neutralising capacity. An additional bonus being the lower running costs of the higher magnesia grades which extract more Carbon Dioxide per unit weight.
